Scheme background: The project was SGN, Thames Water and Thames Waters Contractors Cappagh and Morrison Water Services collaboratively in the same area. The works were within the Merton Borough.
Between the planned conference calls, emails and site meetings Thames Water and ourselves held other meetings to keep the momentum up and had both organisations discussing roles & responsibilities, such as cost sharing, TM plans, who excavates and who reinstates the area.
The project started on 13th February 2023 and took approximately 162 days to complete. SGN started their gas main replacement works on Galpins road, SGN were working under a road closure. SGN had to replace a total of 634 metres of CI and DI main, they are various sizes – these are 150mm DI, 4” CI, 6” CI and 8” CI. These pipes were replaced by live and dead insertions with PE pipe 180mm, 125mm, 90mm and 75mm. SGN also renewed 124 services
During SGNs works all parties started working collaboratively on Galpins road. Thames Waters contractor Cappagh needed to do some essential sewer repairs outside number 39. They utilised our road closure in and excavated and repaired the sewer. They carried this works out for 28 days. Cappagh backfilled and reinstated their excavations and SGN project works continued.
Another collaboration was achieved with Thames Water contractor Morrison Water Services, they needed to carry out a new connection to a customer. Their works for this took 5 days
