Outcomes

Outcomes this year include:                                                                                                                                                

·       Smart Pressure Control Trial has been completed on the WWU network,

·       The compressor installation has completed and awaits commissioning, 

·       The biomethane customer linked to the compressor network has begun expansion, 

The field trial reporting has been drafted, awaiting the compressor field trial results.                                                                                                                                                                      

Lessons Learnt

Lessons learnt from the Compressor Trial include: 

A compressor specification for this purpose does not exist for gas distribution networks. Through the learning gathered by the project a standard specification has been drafted for future compressors on the networks, and is being considered by the industry at the ENAs Entry Connections Forum. 
A significant amount of interest and enquiries are now being received by the networks for ‘reverse compression’ projects. 
 

Lessons learnt from the Smart pressure Control Trial include: 

Communicating site installs to all operational staff prior to site commissioning and provide necessary supporting training guides on maintenance and operation is essential,
Detailed feasibility studies are required for every site in the control loop, whether controlling or providing data to assess site specific requirements,
Learning from the smarter pressure control and compressor field trials will be reported and published following completion of the trials.
