The project is between UK Power Networks, Reach Active and Cadent as part of a new connection.
This project was highlighted through the City of London knowing that all parties needed these works to complete new connections. A road closure was required, and traffic management was shared.
This phase of the project started on 24 July 2023 and took 6 weeks to complete. Roles and responsibilities were agreed between all parties with UKPN undertaking an open cut a trench to install ten 125mm ducts for 11kv cables from the junction of Warwick Lane to Greyfriars Passage (one side of the carriageway to the other then into the public footpath) as part of a route from Limeburner Lane to the development on Newgate Street.
During this period Cadent installed a new gas supply and Vorbos installed new telecommunications.
Commentary on communication with local stakeholders:
An outlined plan was discussed with the local authority and Cadent to discuss shared communications with letter drops for local residents before works commenced, outlining the dates of work, work that is to be completed by each company and the benefits of working collaboratively.
The following is not a comprehensive list of the companies involved but does indicate some of the parties that had to be communicated with to keep the project on target:
• Reach Active
• UKPN
• Cadent
• City of London
Further information: The GLA undertook an assessment of this scheme and approved this as a true collaboration project given the strategic location of the works.
